The impact of CoVid-19 has been huge and beyond the virus itself it has been the lockdown which has caused most of us so many problems. This was of course absolutely necessary in order for us to avoid an overwhelming our healthcare systems, but that is not to say that it has been easy, on the contrary. One of the biggest challenges which many have faced is staying in shape with gyms closed and restrictions on how and when we can go out. With this being said, there are some influential people in the fitness industry like Ayden Hector, who have been highly vocal about how easy it is to stay in shape, despite the quarantine, and here are some tips on doing just that.
If you have a little bit of space and a TV then there is nothing to stop you from indulging in one of the thousands of workout vids that you can find on YouTube. these existed before lockdown and once the quarantine hit, fitness instructors began to upload daily sessions for people to follow. No matter what your bag is you can find it on the video streaming service from yoga to pilates, HIIT to boxercise.
At the beginning of lockdown there was a mad rush for gym gear such as weights, but in reality you don’t need a piece of professionally made equipment for weights, as there are so many options. A 2 liter bottle of soda, a 10 liter bottle or water or even a bottle of laundry detergent, no matter what it is, if it is mighty and you can carry it then you can use it for this purpose. There are always things around the home which can be turned into weights.
Gyms have spoiled us really in terms of our expectation and the need for equipment but the reality is that we really don’t need that stuff to have a great workout. Think about exercises such as press-ups, squats, burpees, sit-ups and jumping Jacks, all of these exercises will help you greatly and they do not require any equipment at all. IF you have stairs in your home then you can run up and down them for some great cardio and leg workouts. There really is no need for equipment and whilst having it is nice, there is absolutely nothing to say that you cannot have a great workout without it.
Food and Drink
Beyond exercise it is imperative that you don’t fall victim to the temptation of drinking too much or chilling out on the sofa eating junk. Given that there is nowhere to go this could be a very simple option, but in doing so you will end up leaving the quarantine overweight and unhealthy, which is not a very smart move given what we are living through. Keep working hard, keep fit and make sure that you avoid any temptation.
