There is so much information which is coming from medical experts like Mark Hochberg NYU doctor, that it can be tough to digest everything that is being said in terms of how you should be behaving during lockdown. The key takeaway from all of the advice however is the importance of keeping yourself healthy in both body and mind. To that end, we have got some great tips for you on how you can ensure that you are doing as much as you can to look after yourself as this lockdown continues.
There is a natural assumption which we can make that because the gym is closed or because our because we are only allowed out for a short while that there is no exercise we can do, but the truth is in fact very different. Bodyweight exercises can be done at home, so too can exercise videos which you can find on YouTube, you could even use the stairs at home to get some exercise in. There is no reason not to be exercising for at least 30 minutes per day.
Physical exercise will certainly help your mental wellbeing and so too will a positive attitude and a dedication to constantly ensure that you are aware of what is happening with your mental wellbeing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with feeling under pressure at the moment or feeling anxious, because we are going through something which nobody has experienced before and that will have a natural impact on our mental health, so too will the lack of socializing which we have done. Take the time to speak with family and friends, meditate and set small goals during this lock down. Look to also keep your mind busy by learning a new skill or hobby, as this will help you to stay focused and healthy.
As we have just mentioned, the lack of social interaction is the aspect which most are having a tough time with and that is why it is important to be on the front foot with this and look to maintain regular catch ups and chats with your loved ones. Whilst it may not be the same as seeing people face to face, using video calling can be a great way to see someone’s face and to enjoy a chat more than an audio call.
Looking After Yourself
You may think that there is no reason to get dressed up, style your hair or put make-up on, but if you stop doing this on occasion then you are going to find that it sets a dangerous trend of doing very little. If you are working from your computer for example then ensure that you take the time to get up and shower, then get ready as if you are going to work. Wearing your PJs for the job will blur the lines between relaxation time and work time, and it is important that they remain very much separate.
Keep yourself in good shape, and this will all be over sooner or later.
